apropos of intel as well as business

…Daily I meet people who are struggling to keep their heads above water, crippled by their desire to always be “right” and to have an answer about what will happen n the future. But you can’t know this, nor do you need to. You just need to notice what is and isn’t working, and then be willing to flip.

Ralph H. [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Ron Suskind’s unnamed administration official was speaking the plain truth when he said “when we act, we create our own reality.” We in the liberal- democratic “reality-based community” need to keep this in mind. When an intel guy is talking to a policymaker (in the unlikely event he gets the chance to do so), he should always keep in mind that the latter is trying to create a new reality. Doesn’t mean he rejects what you tell him, which will naturally be reality-based.
