another real security issue

An insider, not a terribly bright one, manages to pull yet another fast one on yet another national lab. Thankfully, his dim wits prevented any real damage to national security, but note his statement (paraphrased) via his lawyer this morning on TV; “He would never have dealt with terrorists, only allies.”

One ally he thought of helping: France.

That would be the France that did back door deals with Iraq while under UN sanction and who briefed Saddam on their dealings with the US.

I’m not a hate-France kind of guy. This isn’t about France. This is about the people we’re clearing to work in the national security industry. People who smoked a joint five years ago wonder why they can’t get a job but this ‘neck is out there trying to pawn material to people who are known to actively work against us (no “friends” just “shared interests”).

Doesn’t seem to make sense, and sometimes that’s exactly right.

Remember the old “Friend & Foe” vehicle and aircraft identification stuff we had to do for CTT (now “Warrior Task Training”)?

One of my ops always said “other” if a French vehicle or aircraft was displayed.
